Overture on the Orient Express · an exclusive invitation

Andrew's 50th

Saturday 13 – Wednesday 17 February

Rome to Venice on the Orient Express

Fifty friends, three cities, one Orient Express. Come and help me turn fifty in the most ridiculous way I could think of.

A note from Andrew

For my 40th, I took forty of my closest friends to Islay — the magical little Scottish island where the finest whisky in the world is produced. It was, by some distance, one of the most special things any of us had ever been part of, up to that point in our lives.

That was ten years ago. Where does the time go? But it set the bar — and the obvious question was this:

How on earth do you raise the stakes for your 50th?

Here is my answer. You invite fifty of your favourite people on earth to the mother of all parties: a once-in-a-lifetime adventure on the Orient Express from Rome to Venice, with four of the world's most famous DJs playing exclusively for us, in the most extraordinary, glamorous spaces on earth — all while being pummelled with champagne and attacked with Michelin-star cuisine at every turn.

I'd love you to come and help me celebrate making it this far. And if we're still speaking in ten years, the question is: how do you top this? I have some ideas. LOL

See you in Rome — Andrew

The 50th Birthday Banquet

A formal gala dinner at Orient Express La Minerva, then down to the speakeasy until 4am.

Your day is free. Then in the evening we gather at Orient Express La Minerva, steps from the Pantheon, for the birthday banquet — champagne, one long candlelit table, and rather too many courses.

When dinner winds down we slip downstairs to the speakeasy and stay there until 4am. A gentle, glittering start to the week.

Dress: formal — black-tie territory, just shy of it · Champagne reception from 19:00

Andrew's actual birthday

Cabin guests board La Dolce Vita Orient Express. Vineyard party, Michelin dinner, Black Coffee till 4am, sleep on board.

My real birthday — and the heart of the trip, for anyone with a cabin. We meet at 1:00pm for lunch at the Orient Express lounge, then board La Dolce Vita and the entire train is ours.

A private vineyard party with Joseph Capriati, a four-course Michelin dinner as Tuscany rolls past the windows, then Black Coffee plays the train until 4am. Sleep in your cabin; wake to breakfast in bed.

Private and intimate — no press, no sponsors, no fuss. Your costume is provided on arrival; just turn up and let your hair down.

Slow goodbyes

Espresso, sore heads, and promises to do it all again at 60.

Where you'll stay

You book your own hotels in Rome and Venice — the Orient Express cabin covers one night only. We'll send hotel options to everyone who RSVPs, so you can reserve directly to suit your budget. Staying at the Orient Express hotels themselves is the top-tier choice — we've held a set allocation as part of our charter.

What to wear

Saturday banquet — formal, black-tie territory (just shy of it). Sunday DJ Awards party launch — Ibiza jet-set chic. The train — La Dolce Vita, Italian roaring-20s glamour. Venice ball — your costume is provided; just turn up: Venetian masks and gowns.

RSVP & deadlines

RSVP by 1 August 2026, with full payment due at that time — see the prices below. Rome, the Train and Venice each have their own RSVP, and all payments are non-refundable.

RSVP your place

Please RSVP before 1st August

Full payment due when you RSVP · 100% refund if event is cancelled

These celebrations are heavily subsidised by The DJ Awards and our sponsors — but there's a serious cost per head, so to keep everyone committed, payments can't be refunded if your own plans change. To attend all three parts — the full five days — you book each experience one by one: Rome, the Train and Venice. Prefer to skip the train? Come to Rome and Venice and make your own way across; Chris and the event organisers will help everyone with travel, logistics and hotels. Accommodation isn't included in any booking, apart from the one night aboard the train for those who choose it. The train itself is a 100% exclusive, buy-out charter — entirely ours, with only 10 cabins available at this price, first come, first served.

The spaces

Where it happens

Before you RSVP · a few friendly notes

Places are allocated first come, first served, so if you know you're in, it's worth not sitting on it too long. Please RSVP before 1 August 2026 — that really is the cut-off, no exceptions — and payment is made in full when you RSVP.

Doing more than one part? Rome, the Train and Venice each have their own RSVP — to join all three, simply RSVP to all three. It keeps things flexible so everyone can build the trip they want.

Once the guest list is set, Chris will email everyone hotel options on 15 October for both Rome and Venice — across three tiers (budget, mid-range and five-star), plus a premium option at the Orient Express hotels themselves, where we've set aside an allocation. You book your own rooms, but you won't have to hunt for them.

Not taking the Orient Express on to Venice? The high-speed train from Rome takes about four hours and costs around €75, and Chris will help everyone with their plans and reservations once the guest list is locked down.

Travelling solo? Cabins are for two — but you don't have to miss the train. Email Chris and we'll pair you with a cabin-mate.

After something more bespoke — extra nights, a complicated custom itinerary, special requests? Email Chris — and please don't trouble Andrew with your demands and dreams. LOL
